Australia wins third consecutive ISA World Surfing Games
Hobgood, Fitzgibbons, Lima, Sagardia and Moir are the new ISA World Champions

October 19, 2008 - Australia won their third consecutive ISA World Surfing Games Team Championship and gold medals today in Costa de Caparica. This was their fourth out of the seven editions in the history of the event. It was a sunny, beautiful day at Marcelino beach, with waves improving from yesterday and reaching three feet with good conditions.

October 18, 2008 - In two feet waves, the finalists of the repercharge and main event were defined in the seventh day of the ISA World Surfing Games. Only one day of competition remains now to see who will be the new World Champions and the Overall Nations Gold medallist.

USA, France, Brazil and South Africa are also in the running for the gold medal  
October 17, 2008 - It was an intense day at the ISA World Surfing Games in Costa de Caparica. Inconsistent two to three feet waves made it hard for the 114 surfers that started the day and competed in the five divisions. At the end of the day, 54 surfers remain survived the very hard competition.

October 16, 2008 - It was a crucial, exciting and difficult Day 5 in Costa de Caparica with four out of the five divisions competing today in the contest. Teams had a busy schedule of heats that took place in small 2 to 3 feet waves. Today set the pace between those countries that will be battling for the top of the rankings.

Repercharge day in the ISA World Surfing Games
October 15, 2008 - The do or die rounds of the repercharge were the main attraction today at the main podium. The Open Men´s Round 2 was held in two foot waves, as the tide forced the Contest Director to suspend the final heats of the day. A total of 13 heats were held and more surfers were eliminated from the championships. Those who overcame the pressure made it through, adding more points to their respective teams.

October 14, 2008 - Despite a smaller swell the action was frenetic and emotions ran high on the third day of the ISA World Surfing Games with the repercharge heats along with the Open Men’s qualifiers hitting the water. It was also the turn of the Women to show what they’re capable of in the Main Event round one and two.

October 13, 2008 - The ISA World Surfing Games day two was held today in consistent 3 to 5 foot waves at Marcelino and CDS beaches, in sunny Costa de Caparica. The best Open Men’s made their way into the third round of the main event, sending the rest to the “do or die” repercharge.

October 12, 2008 - The 22nd edition of the ISA World Surfing Games started today in five foot waves at the beaches of Costa de Caparica. The first and second round of the Longboard division, along with round one of the mens and women’s Bodyboard were held.

11 October 2008 - The ISA World Surfing Games were declared officially open today in the Costa de Caparica Sports Arena, with cheers and applauses of joy coming from more than 300 surfers from 29 countries. Cheers and applauses were ignited by the words of the ISA President, Fernando Aguerre, who said: “I’m going to ask a favour of everybody, I want you to be very loud, so our noise can be heard in Switzerland, where the International Olympic Committee is, because one day we’re going to be part of the Olympic Games. So I declare the ISA World Surfing Games officially open”!
